Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
