Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Jordyn on October 19th, 2015
Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
