Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

by Jordyn on November 9th, 2020

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
