Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
