Poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the dealer instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or other types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the croupier saying "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other gamblers attain 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call bet or accede. The call bet’s value is equal to your original ante, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your bet goes immediately to the bank. After the wager is the conclusion. If the casino does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, plus a sum on par with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The dealer pays chips even with your ante and set expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
