Web poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years several variations on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no conniving or other kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up just before the croupier saying "No more bets." At that moment, both you and the house and of course all of the other players acquire 5 cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you need to in turn make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s value is equal to your original bet, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Bowing out means that your bet goes directly to the casino. After the bet is the conclusion. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus a figure in accordance with the initial wager. If the house has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The casino pony’s up chips equal to your bet and controlled expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
